Rescuers in the US state of Kentucky are intensifying their search for victims of the floods that devastated the eastern state and killed at least 28 people due to bad weather, according to the state's governor on Sunday.

"These floods are among the most destructive and deadly we have seen in our history...the rain is falling while we are trying to continue our search operations," Governor Andy Beshear said.

Noteworthy, Egypt offered condolence to the US over the victims of the floods that hit the East of Kentucky State, leaving several deaths and injuries.

In a statement by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt confirmed its solidarity with the families of the victims and wished speedy recovery for the injured.

According to BBC, the governor of Kentucky predicted that the death toll would keep rising. According to him, numerous residences and businesses had been inundated.

The floods have been deemed a “serious disaster” by President Joe Biden, who has also ordered government assistance for local rescues.

According to scientists, climate change is causing more catastrophic weather events, like the floods in Kentucky.

Mr. Beshear declared the flood to be “by far the worst” he had ever seen during an airborne tour with the National Guard.

“There are still a large number of persons missing and in the wild. We’ll try our best to locate them all “He cautioned that it might take several weeks to locate every victim. A boat or a helicopter has saved hundreds of people.
