Death Toll in Nigeria's Gas Explosion Rises to 9

A rescue official has verified that nine persons perished and ten others were injured in a gas explosion in Nigeria's northwest state of Kano on Tuesday morning.

While updating reporters on the gas cylinder explosion in Kano on Tuesday evening, Nuradeen Abdullahi, a coordinator for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Kano, verified the development.

"The number of those killed in the gas explosion on Aba Road in Sabon Gari, Fagge local government area, Kano, has risen to nine," Abdullahi stated.

He said ten people were hurt and transferred to different hospitals, with two of them being released. Abdullahi urged the public to be calm, particularly those in the impacted area, and warned against disseminating false information.

On Tuesday, a suspected gas explosion killed people in northern Nigeriaaccording to police.

According to Samila Dikko, the state police commissioner, the explosion occurred in the Sabon Gari area of Kano state. Several people were sent to the hospital.

Security services have sealed off the area and initiated an investigation, while a search and rescue effort is ongoing.

The event occurred inside an animal feed store in the Sabon Gari area., according to Malam Muhammad Garba, the state commissioner for information.
