Cuba said that the death toll from a gas explosion at Hotel Saratoga in Havana rose to 43.

Cuban Health Ministry announced that the explosion, which occurred on Friday morning, left 54 people injured, including 17 who are still in the hospital.

The search and rescue teams pulled out from under the rubble yesterday morning two bodies, a woman and a man.

The explosion occurred due to gas leakage from a tanker truck that was supplying the hotel, destroying four floors of the building.

The hotel was undergoing renovations in preparation for officially reopening on May 10, after it remained closed for the past 2 years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
