On Sunday, professional dancers from the Stuttgart Ballet group performed shows inside massive plastic bubbles for German artist Florian Mehnert. The show aims to highlight the effects of social distancing.

Responding to covid-19 crises, the German dancers used PVC bubbles at concerts to protect themselves against the transmission of the coronavirus, but some experts were unsure about the effectiveness of those measures.

According to one of the health experts “I’d need to see how the air exchange was occurring between the outside and the inside of the bubbles to be able to say if it were safe overall or reduced risk of transmission.”

On the other hand, Flaming Lips, an American music band known for their exuberant live shows and recording experiments, had a similar concert in October, and also had performed their prominent song “Race for the Prize” in June using the spheres on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.”

It's worth noting that the American band took elaborate precautions at its live performances to protect themselves against the transmission of the coronavirus, but some health experts were unsure about the effectiveness of those measures.
