The health authorities in the United States of America (USA) detected more than 105,000 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) during the past day, while 457 people died, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

According to the university, doctors recorded 105,927 new infections with the deadly virus during the past 24 hours, compared to 126,000 cases the day before, which is a record since the start of the outbreak.

The USA  has become the first country in the world to exceed ten million cases of Coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, according to a count provided by "Reuters" as the third wave of Covid-19 swept across the country.

This pessimistic development came on the same day that the number of cases of Coronavirus worldwide exceeded 50 million.

The United States has recorded about a million cases of the virus in the past ten days, at the highest rate of infections since the country recorded its first case of the emerging coronavirus in Washington state 293 days ago.

More than 237,000 Americans have died from COVID-19 since the disease caused by the Coronavirus first appeared late last year.

Today, Monday, the winning  Democratic candidate, Joe Biden, held a meeting of a working group specialized in dealing with the Coronavirus, to discuss the problem linked to the disease, after the American media announced his victory in the elections.
