In 2021, the Czech Republic recorded the highest death rate in 77 years, as 139,900 people died out of the county's population of 10.519 million people at the beginning of the year.

Czech Statistical Office stated that 139,900 died in 2021 in the republic, the highest annual death rate since WW2.

The death rate in the republic in 2021 significantly exceeded the birth rate due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, as 28,100 more people died than those who were born. This is the maximum reduction in natural population growth since 1918, the date of the founding of independent Czechoslovakia.

At the same time, it was reported that the number of foreigners who have moved to live in the republic is increasing, and population growth in the country in recent years is due to immigration. For example, in 2021, 50,000 foreigners settled in the country, and this number is more than the foreigners who left.
