Due to escalating tensions in the Middle East, Larnaca International Airport canceled a total of 24 arriving and 24 departing flights on Wednesday, according to Hermes Airports, which operates both Larnaca and Paphos airports.
The cancellations at Larnaca span from 5:30 a.m. to 11:20 p.m., affecting passengers traveling to and from multiple European destinations. Major airlines including British Airways, Lufthansa, EasyJet, and Austrian Airlines have suspended flights to and from Cyprus since Monday.
Hermes Airports advised travelers with scheduled flights to contact their airlines or travel agents before heading to the airport.
At Paphos International Airport, airlines including EasyJet, Sundair, Jet2, and Arkia have canceled 12 flights so far, with the possibility of further disruptions.
Hermes Airports reaffirmed that it will continue providing updates as new information becomes available and encouraged passengers to remain in contact with their carriers or travel agents for the latest flight status.
The cancellations reflect growing concerns over regional instability and its impact on air travel, highlighting the broader disruptions in transportation networks caused by ongoing Middle East conflicts.
Today, the first repatriation flight from Dubai to Cyprus was scheduled afternoon. An Airbus A320-214 operated by Cyprus Airways carried 180 Cypriot nationals back home. Approximately 700 Cypriots were in Dubai, and authorities plan two additional repatriation flights in the coming days.
