Dr. Zahi Hawass, Egyptologist and former Minister of Antiquities revealed that the ambassador of Cyprus to Cairo donated to the company, which runs the pyramids area, to find a good shelter for stray dogs.

"The ambassador came to me, before the trending video of the Pyramid's climbing dog, and told me that she gets sad when she sees stray dogs without food or shelter. I then took her to the company, which runs the pyramids area, so they could bring them food and gather them in one place," Hawass said in a television statement.

He added: "The tourist photographed the dog at the top of the pyramid, and Amr Adib did something interesting and made a fuss, and the whole world was talking about this dog, and this dog helped to start caring for 30 other stray dogs in the pyramid area."

He pointed out that "this dog prompted us and the Animal Welfare Society to pay attention to stray dogs in the pyramid area".

He stressed: The pictures of dogs on the walls of the temples are pictures of the current regular local dogs, and the dog in ancient Egypt was guarding the tombs where humans lived in the afterlife and the tombs of Tutankhamun holds the most beautiful dog in the treasure room and the dog was a symbol of protection and guarding in the time of the ancient Egyptians.

Hawass: "I worked for 10 years in the pyramid, and throughout my life I would go up to the pyramid and find a dog next to me, but it never occurred to me to take a photograph of any of these dogs, until it became important to the world after an American tourist filmed a video of it, while paragliding.
