Culture Min. Meets French Senate Parliamentary Friendship Delegation

Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture, met with The French Senate Parliamentary Friendship Delegation.

The delegation included Catherine Moran Desili, the head of the delegation and the head of the Culture, Education and Communication Committee in the Senate, Senator Jean-Michel Olgat and Senator Oge Suri, members of the Egyptian-French Friendship Association and Stephen Romat, the French Ambassador in Cairo.

On the Egyptian side, the attendees included Dr. Ayman Abu El-Ela, member of the Egyptian-French Friendship Association and Samia Rafa, Dr. Marian Azar and Sherine Farag -members of the Egyptian Parliament.

Both parties discussed ways to support cooperation by organizing several joint cultural and artistic projects that will enhance the ties of friendship between the two nations.

Abdel Dayem affirmed the depth of relations between Egypt and France on all levels, especially cultural and intellectual level, explaining that the political leadership declared 2019 as the Egyptian-French culture year. This came as the culmination of ties between the two countries.

Abdel Dayem explained that Egypt is characterized by its cultural persity; therefore, the political leadership supports activating and spreading culture in society in cooperation with private cultural institutions. It worthy of note that 2019 realized many artistic and intellectual exchanges.

Furthermore, the head of the French delegation thanked Egypt for supporting the ties, the cultural and artistic activities between the two countries during the year of Egypt – France.

She stressed that Egypt is a major partner, explaining Egypt pivotal role in French culture, the French connection with the Egyptian cultural heritage and folklore.

She hinted to many intellectual similarities between the two peoples.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the elements of cooperation of a number of major cultural and national projects which included the City of Culture and Arts ,the new opera in the new administrative capital.

Accordingly, the French party expressed its willingness to support all these projects in addition to inaugurating a number of cultural centers in the Egyptian governorates like Luxor and Sheikh Zayed City.

They also hope to increase the joint production between the National Center for Cinema in the two countries and the inauguration of a college specialized in arts at the French University in Egypt.
