Culture Min. Inaugurates Drums for Peace Festival

At Jubb Yussef Theater, Saladin Citadel, the Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem inaugurated the seventh edition of the International Drums and Traditional Arts Festival.

On this occasion, Abdel Dayem honored Boutros Ghali, Mohamed Hamam, Mahmoud Shokuko, Ambassador Abou Bakr Hefny Mahmoud, the African Union’s former president and Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame.

Under the slogan Drums Dialogue for Peace, more than twenty countries are participating: Egypt, Poland, Nigeria, Greece, the Malpes, Mexico, Jordan, Colombia, Armenia, Ghana, Kazakhstan, Ecuador, Saudi Arabia, Burundi, Guinea, Senegal, China, Indonesia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan, and Palestine.

Where are the events taking place?

Matching with the festival’s ambiance, its events are taking place at various and unique places: Saladin Citadel, Al Ghoury’s Dome, Al Moeez Street, Children’s Civilization and Creativity Center, Al Hanger Theatre, Al Hurriyah Park, and Eastern Shubra Al Kheima Neighborhood’s Park.

A market for the Egyptian governorates’ traditional and popular products

On the festivals’ sidelines, a prestigious market is held for the Egyptian governorates’ traditional and popular products. In addition, today at 4:00 pm (Cairo Time), all the bands are participating in an international carnival at Al Moeez Street.

The African continent is the festival's guest of honor

Worth noting is that Egypt this year Egypt is presiding over the African Union, in this regard, the festival’s founder Intisar Abdel Fattah said, “The African Continent is 2019 festival’s guest of honor.”

The festival is going to conclude its events on the 27th of April, parallel to the Sinai Liberation Day.
