Crystal Palace launched an attack on UEFA and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after being denied a Europa League spot despite winning the FA Cup in May against Manchester City.

The South London club accused football’s governing bodies of undermining “sporting merit” and applying rules unevenly to favour certain teams, particularly those involved in multi-club ownership.

Palace claimed such clubs exploit “blind trust” structures to skirt restrictions, while their independence counted for nothing.

The statement also condemned the CAS process, citing a lack of transparency, refusal to hear key witnesses, and disclosure requests being denied, a system they allege produces “pre-determined outcomes” that damage European football’s integrity.

The ruling confirmed Palace’s demotion to the Europa Conference League, where they must overcome FC Midtjylland or Fredrikstad in a two-legged play-off to reach the group stage.
