On Monday, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) settled the dispute over Crystal Palace’s participation in the UEFA Europa League.
The court rejected the English club’s appeal against UEFA’s decision to move them to the Europa Conference League.
According to The Mirror, a three-member panel reviewed Palace’s case, filed as FA Cup champions, but dismissed the appeal, confirming Nottingham Forest’s place in Europe’s second-tier competition.
The controversy stemmed from UEFA’s multi-club ownership rules. Palace shareholder John Textor also held a stake in French side Lyon.
Although he later sold that stake, the club failed to meet the deadline for regulatory compliance.
As a result, UEFA reallocated European spots based on domestic league standings, granting Lyon a Europa League berth while relegating Palace to the Conference League, a final blow confirmed by CAS’s ruling.
