On Tuesday, iconic football player Cristiano Ronaldo reached a new milestone of becoming the first football player to make 200 international appearances.

He was honored by receiving a Guinness World Records certificate for having the most international caps for a male player.

The 38-year-old player received the certificate before the kicking off of the game between Portugal and Iceland.

Ronaldo marked the occasion by scoring the winning goal in the 89th minute as Portugal won 1-0 against Iceland.

Ronaldo made his debut for Portugal against Kazakhstan in August 2003.

He is also Portugal's all-time record scorer with 123 goals.

Ronaldo said: "Two hundred games played proves the love I have for my country.

"For me it is an extremely important milestone. It means a lot. [Two hundred] is a beautiful number that [no men's player] has."

'I'm very proud because this is something I never thought I could reach. And I'm continuing to set records."
