Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez are reportedly planning to break tradition at their anticipated wedding, which is expected to take place after the 2026 World Cup.
There is speculation that the Al-Nassr captain will deviate from customary practices with an unusual decision regarding the wedding’s location.
Portuguese media reported that Ronaldo, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, wants to get married in his hometown, the island of Madeira.
This choice would break the tradition that the wedding should be held in the bride’s home country, in this case, Argentina, as the couple had initially planned.
Ronaldo and Georgina began their relationship in 2016, keeping it secret for about a year before announcing their engagement last August.
The couple intends to marry after the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and before the start of the 2026–2027 Saudi Pro League season.
In a recent interview with journalist Piers Morgan, Cristiano revealed that his daughters encouraged him to take this step and propose to Georgina.
