Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko went into self-isolation on Thursday after one of his family members tested positive for COVID-19, according to the RIA news agency.

On Thursday, Russia recorded 15,971 new coronavirus cases and 290 new deaths from COVID-19, bringing its official death toll to 25,242.

Earlier this month, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the nation’s second vaccine against COVID-19, dubbed “EpiVacCorona”, was officially registered by the “Vector” center on 14 October, according to Sputnik News Agency.

Putin added that a third Russian coronavirus vaccine, developed by the Chumakov Centre, would also be registered in the near future.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova has hailed the new vaccine as having lesser side effects after the injection. She also added that the first 60,000 doses of EpiVacCorona would be manufactured in the “near future”.

Moreover, Golikova pointed out that the trials will include 150 volunteers aged above 60, suggesting that EpiVacCorona might be suitable for elderly people.
