COVID-19 Cases in Africa Surpass 9 Mln

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention announced that the total confirmed COVID-19 cases in Africa surpassed 9 million one, media agencies reported on Friday.

It expressed in its latest statement that more than 188 million COVID-19 vaccine were given. on the other hand, the total number of recovered Coronavirus cases is 8,554,189.

Regarding the major spots of COVID-19 reported cases, they are South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia, Ethiopia, and Libya.

In the same context, Maria Van Kerhove, the COVID-19 Technical Lead of the World Health Organization (WHO) said early this month that the world is facing a tsunami of Delta, and Omicron Coronavirus cases.

Kerhove said in her interview with the Spanish newspaper El País that there is an unstoppable rise in Coronavirus infections globally, urging all governments to have immediate action.

Next, she asserted that the world needs to end the pandemic or decrease the number of infections to the lowest rates by using vaccines, and good treatments.

It is worthy to mention that Johns Hopkins University announced on Friday that more than 286.5 million people were infected with Coronavirus worldwide.
