The African Union`s (AU) Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention launched an initiative on social media, to raise awareness of wearing a mask. The initiative will continue until the end of November to help in curbing the spread of COVID-19.
In a statement, the AU said that the initiative will be implemented through social media, and will encourage the wearing of masks, in the absence of a vaccine or medicine. It added that simple instructions such as wearing masks, washing hands, and physical distancing are the best tools available to control the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The AU stated that this week will include many activities, including organizing virtual events that include discussions about wearing masks and their benefits in controlling the spread of (Covid-19).
There will be campaigns on social media and online events by companies, private entities, and inpiduals in All over the continent to promote the wearing of masks, the AU added.
According to the AU, inpiduals will be able to show their support for this initiative by sharing photos and messages about wearing masks using the hashtag: (#AfricaMaskWeek).
