On Tuesday, the Nasr City Misdemeanor Appeals Court rejected the appeal of Hussein El-Shahat, a player for Al-Ahly SC, upholding his one-year prison sentence. The court also confirmed his disqualification from holding any sports administration position, following charges of assault and verbal abuse against Pyramids FC player Mohamed Chibi.

Previously, the Nasr City Misdemeanor Court sentenced El-Shahat to one year in prison and barred him from serving on the board of any sports entity for five years. The court suspended the prison sentence for three years from the date of the final ruling. Additionally, El-Shahat was ordered to pay EGP 100,001 in compensation and cover court expenses, including EGP 50 in attorney fees.

The incident occurred during a football match between Pyramids FC and Al-Ahly SC in the Egyptian Premier League. During the game, El-Shahat physically and verbally assaulted Mohamed Chibi, allegedly insulting his mother in front of millions of viewers.

Chibi's complaint accused El-Shahat of thuggery, assault, verbal abuse, defamation, intimidation, and threats of physical harm. The altercation caused significant psychological and physical distress to El-Sheibi, further intensified by viral videos of the incident circulating on social media platforms.
