Parliament Speaker Hanafi Gebaly met with Martin Chungong, Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), on Wednesday.
As part of his activity on the sidelines of the Fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Vienna, Gebaly met with Chungong and referred to the Parliament of Egypt’s vital role in the IPU, nearly hundred years ago.
During the meeting, he stressed the Parliament's keenness to continue intensive involvement in the activities of the IPU. The Parliament Speaker also hailed the latter's role as a locomotive for global parliamentary diplomacy.
Moreover, he emphasized the Parliament's endeavor to enhance cooperation with the IPU, especially in the field of supporting and building parliamentary capacities.
On his part, Chungong praised parliament's historical role within the corridors of the IPU, stressing the importance of building on the long-established relations between Egypt's Parliament and the IPU.
