Dr. Hossam Hosny, the Head of the Scientific Committee for Competing against Coronavirus in Egypt, said that the pandemic is not over in Egypt yet, however, it is not as dangerous or strong as before.
He added in a phone interview with V Presenter Sayed Ali that 70% of the citizens have been vaccinated, which will give the community the required immunity to resist the virus.
Hosny reflected that Coronavirus won’t disappear, but its ability to infect more people would be controllable or mild.
Therefore, he asserted that citizens should follow all medical measures against Coronavirus to achieve zero infections and deaths of COVID-19.
On Saturday, the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population announced that last week the average number of daily COVID-19 infections reached 124 cases, while the average daily death toll was six new cases.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar, said in a statement that the average daily number of people recovering from coronavirus last week reached 260, bringing the total number of people recovering from the virus so far to 444,002.
The number of people fully vaccinated against the coronavirus is now up to 33,585,495 people.
The Health and Population Ministry confirmed on March 12 the end of the peak of the fifth wave after the decline and stability of daily infections with COVID-19, noting that vaccines play a major role in the decline in infections and the severity of diseases.
The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population has changed its report on infections, deaths and recovery from COVID-19 to be at the beginning of each week instead of daily.
“This move follows the recession of the fifth wave of the pandemic and the decline in infection rates at almost constant rates for two consecutive weeks, in addition to the decrease in hospitalization rates,” the statement said.
