Egypt's soft force in Africa lost one of its most prominent representatives in the region, specifically in Kenya, surgeon Ashraf Amara, who was killed by the Coronavirus.

He became the second doctor in Africa and the first surgeon to die of deadly virus in Kenya.

Dr. Ashraf Amara is a professor of plastic surgery at Moi Teaching Hospital in Kenya.

He decided, after his graduation in Qasr Al-Aini Faculty of Medicines, Cairo University, , to dedicate his career to treat the children of Africa from a rare and difficult congenital anomaly, which is the cleft lip, which he specialized in and was one of the most skilled surgeons.

The late doctor spent nearly 15 years of his life in Kenya, far from his homeland, where he repaired cleft palate cases among thousands of children and passed on his surgical experience on cleft lip to surgeons throughout Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

He led medical convoys that relieve patients and poor people across Africa.

All medical institutions in Kenya mourned the deceased doctor. The Regional Director of the Health Organization (Esther Njorog Murithi) said that many of his students are now able to provide high-quality care within their communities as he has taught them plastic surgery and supervised master's degree students while conducting research and performing operations on patients since 2005.

She added that the organization is encouraging more plastic surgeons to keep his memories alive by emulating his values of service and care for their patients.
