Coronavirus Infects More than 1 Million People in India

Ministry of Health in India released macabre data today, Friday, showing that the number of the confirmed cases of the Coronavirus in the country has exceeded one million.

The infection has spread to towns and villages deep in the rural areas after the nationwide isolation measures have been lifted.

The ministry said in the daily report that the number of infections rose during the past day by about 35 thousand to reach one million and 3,8 thousand, while the total deaths reached 25,602 with 687 new cases recorded during the past day.

Only the United States and Brazil are outnumbered India in the total infections and deaths.

In India there are 342,000 active cases in the country after 635,000 patients have recovered so far.

On the other hand, India has isolated more than 125 million people because of the high number of infections with the Coronavirus.

Measures taken by the Indian authorities are the largest in history, while the virus continued to spread and called for the re-imposition of isolation restrictions in the countries of the world.

India has re-isolated more than 10% of its population, with restrictions imposed since the evening of Wednesday and for two weeks on the population of Bihar (Northeast), which is 125 million people.

During the previous period of isolation, the Indians suffered from a shortage of rice and flour, because they were not able to secure more food then.

In Patna, the capital city of Behar State, thousands of breaches of the social pergence restrictions in order to get supplies from shops before the measures came into effect.

Outside India, Hong Kong re-imposed strict measures of social estrangement, closed on Wednesday, many stores and made mandatory masks on public transport, after a rise in the number of new infections with the Corona virus, threatening to blow up months of successful efforts to contain the infection.

The gatherings of more than four people were banned, while the authorities ordered the closure of many commercial activities, such as sports clubs, barber shops, bars, nightclubs and karaoke bars.

The city of Tokyo has reached its heightened state of alert following the rise in the number of new infections of the Corona virus, according to Governor Yoriko Koike on Wednesday.
