The latest figures coming from the United States revealed that the 4 thousand new cases of coronavirus infection were reported, bringing the total number of infections to 39,207 cases, while 466 have died, according to a new tally.

Louisiana and Ohio have become the two most recent states to announce an expanded curfew to contain the virus, with nearly one in three Americans subjected to orders to remain at home.

The two states joined New York, California, Illinois, Connecticut and New Jersey, which are home to nearly 100 million Americans.

The Mayor of New York, where more than a third of Coronavirus cases in America were reported, has described the spread of the virus as the largest domestic crisis since the Great Depression and called on the US military to mobilize its efforts to prevent public health system destruction.

He warned that the worst was yet to come and indicated that the city had not obtained the medical supplies it needed from the federal government to deal with the rapid spread of fatal respiratory disease (Covid-19).

Yesterday, US President Donald Trump ordered the urgent establishment of 4,000 hospital beds in the hardest-hit states in the USA.

US President Trump said the United States would take a decision at the end of the 15-day period to determine "which way to go" to curb the spread of the Corona virus.

"We cannot make treatment worse than the problem itself," Trump said on Twitter.

On the other hand, local authorities in a number of American states decided to release thousands of prisoners, in an attempt to prevent the spread of the virus in prisons. Those included prisoners who are still serving their sentence on light criminal cases, as well as elderly prisoners who suffer from diseases.

Meanwhile, Bloomberg quoted economists at Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs Group, that the outbreak of the Corona virus will cause greater economic pain than previously expected, as they warned of a record drop in US output in the second quarter and a deeper global recession.
