Coronavirus: Death Toll Rises to 1526 Globally

China’s National Health Commission said, on Saturday, that the death toll from the new Coronavirus has risen to 1523.

The National Health Commission added that the total number of the infection cases in the country has risen to 66492.

The new deaths in China increased the number of coronavirus deaths globally to 1526, including three in Hong Kong, Philippines and Japan.

Yesterday, Egypt confirmed the first case of coronavirus in Africa; the state’s health ministry announced in a statement.

It added that the affected person was a foreigner who had been put into isolation at hospital, confirming that all preventive measures have been taken to prevent the outbreak of the deadly virus inside Egypt.

On his part, the ministry’s spokesman Khaled Megahed said that they have immediately informed the World Health Organization WHO.

Earlier, Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed that his country is “fully capable” of eradicating the new coronavirus, while China‘s economy will not be affected by this deadly virus.

According to official media reports, the Chinese President told US president Donald Trump on the phone, that his country’s economy is capable of facing the developments.

Xi also told Trump that China is “fully confident and able to defeat” the virus,according to Chinese state television.

On the other hand, the White House said in a statement that Trump expressed his “confidence” in China’s ability to deal with the new coronavirus during his talks with his Chinese counterpart.

The statement said: “The two leaders discussed continuing intensive contacts and cooperation between the two sides.”

Health authorities in Beijing urged people not to shake hands but to use a conventional cupped-hand gesture instead of saluting.
