Coronavirus Cases in KSA Rise above 2,000

The Health Ministry of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) said that the coronavirus detected cases in the country rose above 2,000 after a record 154 diagnosed on Friday.

In a statement, the Health Ministry spokesman Dr. Mohammed Al-Abd Al-Aly said that there are 154 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of the diagnosed cases to 2,039.

"Four new deaths have been recorded from the COVID-19, raising the death toll to 25," the spokesman said.

He also added that 351 cases have recovered from the virus across the Arab country.

The KSA imposed a 24-hour curfew in Mecca and Medina, starting from Thursday until further notice in a step aimed to curb the spread of coronavirus, according to a statement by the Ministry of Interior.

In a statement, the ministry added that the residents in both cities are advised to leave their homes only for necessary reasons such as buying food and for medical between the hours of 6 a.m. till 3 p.m.

It added that the commercial activities, excluding pharmacies and grocery stores, will be totally suspended in the two holy cities.

Last week, Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz approved measures that placed Riyadh, Mecca and Medina on lockdown, which is still in effect. Residents are still banned from entering or exiting the cities
