Antonio Conte has reportedly decided to leave Napoli at the end of the current season after informing club president Aurelio De Laurentiis of his intention to step down.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Conte notified Napoli’s management of his decision nearly a month ago and is expected to depart without receiving compensation. Reports also indicate that the Italian coach has not yet reached an agreement with another club.
Conte has recently been linked with the Italy national football team job, with speculation growing that he could replace Gennaro Gattuso following Italy’s disappointing failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Meanwhile, Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku appears close to ending his spell with Napoli after both sides reportedly agreed that the veteran forward will not feature again for the club this season.
Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Napoli’s management opted to resolve the situation quietly in order to avoid further tension and facilitate the player’s expected summer departure.
