Last week, WWE announced that its blue brand, SmackDown, will host a World Cup tournament, and the winner will earn a title match against the Intercontinental Champion Gunther.
On Friday, PWInsider reported the names of the tournament participants without giving the exact order of the matches.
The mentioned competitors are Braun Strowman (USA), Shinsuke Nakamura (Japan), Sami Zayn (Canada), Santos Escobar (Mexico), Rey Mysterio (USA), Jinder Mahal (India), Butch (UK), and Ricochet (USA).
The first announced match for the tournamet is Nakamura vs. Escobar.
In last week's episode, Gunther defended his title successfully against legendary Mysterio.
It is worth mentioning that tonight's show will include a Fatal 6-Way Match for choosing a competitor for SmackDown Women's Champion Ronda Rousey.
In addition, it will include a historical tag team for the Undisputed WWE World Tag Team titles between the champions, The Usos, and The New Day.
The match carries a historical significance as each team targets breaking the record of the other one.
