Colombian President Gustavo Petro has angered Israel once again after confirming his support for Palestine by posting a photo and video on his X account holding a map of Palestine, according to the Argentine newspaper Infobae.
Petro posted a video on his X account in a hospital in Qatar where sick children from Gaza are being treated, in which he appears holding a map of Palestine, describing the children as survivors of the genocide being committed in Gaza.
The Argentine newspaper indicated that Petro's support angered Israel, as the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the Colombian president took advantage of his meeting with children from the Gaza Strip in a hospital in Qatar recently to renew his solidarity with the Palestinians and their right to return to their homeland, and spoke about the prisoner Elkana Bouhbot, hoping for his release.
It was not the first time that the Colombian president confirmed his support for Palestine. Last June, Petro said that his country would stop its coal exports to Israel because of the “genocide” it is committing against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
