American actor Colin Woodell has been tapped as the lead in the John Wick spin-off prequel series, “The Continental”.

Woodell is set to play Winston Scott, the younger version of Ian McShane’s character from the John Wick franchise.

The "Flight Attendant" actor will star alongside Hollywood star Mel Gibson in the three-night special-event TV series, produced by Lionsgate Television.

Gibson will play a new character called Cormac, though no further details are available about his character.

Hubert Point-Du Jour, Jessica Allain, Mishel Prada, Nhung Kate, and Ben Robson, will also star in the series.

The new prequel series will explore the John Wick universe 40 years prior to where the movie franchise began.

The spin-off, which was originally ordered at Starz in 2018, is set in 1970s New York City and will focus on young Winston, the owner of the famous hotel for assassins, and how it came to be that he and his team of confederates found their way into the hotel.

As the series takes place 40 years before the movies, which rule out an appearance from Keanu Reeves, however, Beggs did say the actor was in talks to executive produce.

Starz will not air “The Continental” until after the fourth “John Wick” movie which is set to be released on May 27, 2022.
