The Ministry of International Cooperation and CNN, a US news network, have produced a joint promotional film about Egypt's move towards a circular and sustainable economy.

CNN affirmed that Egypt is implementing projects in the field of water.

The film sheds light on huge water projects such as the Jabal Al Asfar, north to Cairo, water treatment plant, which is the third-largest plant in the world, as it extends over an area of 78 acres in Qalyubia Governorate.

The cost of implementing that plant is about one billion dollars, and it treats 2.5 million cubic meters daily and serves about 12 million residents of Cairo.

The plant adopts circular economy practices throughout processing, producing organic fertilizers, and generating electricity from enough methane to power 60% of its needs.

The plant saves the equivalent of 28,000 tons of carbon emissions annually and irrigating 150,000 acres of farmland using treated water.
