The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has awarded the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics to John Clarke, Michel H. Devoret, and John M. Martinis for their groundbreaking work on macroscopic quantum tunneling and energy quantization in electrical circuits.
Their discovery is considered a major milestone in quantum physics, with significant potential applications in the development of quantum computing.
The trio will share the 11 million Swedish kronor prize (approximately $1.2 million USD) equally. The Nobel Prize ceremony will be held in Stockholm on December 10, as is tradition.
Tomorrow the winners of Nobel Prize in Chemistry will be announced, and it will be followed by Literature on Thursday, Peace on Friday, and economic sciences on Monday.
