The Egyptian Ministry of Culture decided Thursday to re-open the Cinema Cultural Palace in Garden City district in Cairo after being closed in 2016 for renovation.
Minister of Culture Dr. Enas Abdel-Dayem said that re-opening of the palace will constitute a new step towards enriching the Egyptian culture in general and the cinema field in particular.
She added that the ministry has developed a new work plan that includes providing specialized training courses, holding a monthly photography exhibition and several international, African, Latin and European cinema clubs, in addition to another club for first-film experience in order to provide an opportunity for young creative artists to prove themselves.
The plan also includes holding weekly meeting entitled Negm w Nadwa “A star and Symposium” to screen films taken from fictional works alongside producing a series of documentary films.
It is worth mentioning that the Palace was established in 1989, and it was closed in 2016 for development and renovation. It was equipped with means of civil protection during the tenure of late head of the Cultural Palace Authority Dr. Sayyed Khassab.
It has a capacity of 244 spectators and includes a ground floor with a film studio, audio control room, 4 administrative offices and a number of service and civil protection rooms.
The first floor includes two movie theatres, control rooms, reception hall, while the second one includes public library and Cinema Hall.
