On Monday, Cairo International Book Fair (CIBF) organized a seminar attended by very high-level Greek and Egyptian experts on the cultural ties between Greece and Egypt and the contribution of Greek translators to the spread of Greek culture in Egypt.
During the seminar, the Greek intellectuals insisted that Cairo Book Fair is one of the most important events of its kind in the world – and the largest.
Persa also took this occasion to express her happiness with her current visit to Egypt. She said, “I am very happy to visit Egypt, which I consider my second home.”
Opportunities for young translators and publishing professionals to network with their Greek counterparts will abound, with a vast area dedicated to Greece’s publishing houses and companies.
Moreover, Egypt’s book readers will have the opportunity to get to know Greek authors whose books have recently been translated in Egypt.
On the other hand, well-known Egyptian translator Dr. Tarik MohiEldin Motwaa focused on the literature translations and culture of the Guest of Honour.
Actually, it is an event for the Greek, European, and Egyptian major publishers, an interface of international networking, the major marketplace for publication rights, a starting point for translation projects, and thus the most important meeting-place in the international book world, according to Greek and Egyptian intellectuals.
They also noted that this massive fair has an excellent international reputation and receives worldwide attention.
It’s worth noting that other activities of CIBF have included journalists’ encounters and workshops on specific translation and cultural issues, as well as dissemination of information, press conferences, and briefings.
