Sudan's Health Ministry has announced the deaths of 122 people in the country due to cholera and dengue fever between July 15th and October 27th.
According to the ministry's report published on Saturday, 49 people in Sudan have succumbed to dengue fever, with 33 of these cases in the eastern state of Kassala.
The report also notes the registration of 3,316 cases of the disease, including 2,152 cases in Kassala.
Additionally, 73 people have died due to cholera, with most of the fatalities occurring in Kassala and Khartoum.
The total number of cholera cases reached 1,059 in states including Kassala, Khartoum, South Kordofan, and the White Nile.
Since April 15th, the conflict between the Sudanese army, led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and his former deputy, the leader of the Rapid Support Forces, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, has resulted in more than 9,000 deaths, according to the United Nations.
Moreover, around six million people have been internally displaced or sought refuge in neighboring countries.
The war in Sudan has led to the destruction of the already fragile infrastructure and the closure of 80% of the country's hospitals, pushing millions to the brink of starvation.
More than half of the population now depends on humanitarian aid for survival, as reported by the United Nations.
Millions of children are exposed to various diseases such as cholera, dengue fever, measles, and malaria. The healthcare system is under immense pressure due to ongoing attacks and conflict, according to the World Health Organization and UNICEF.
On Wednesday, the warring parties resumed negotiations under the sponsorship of the United States and Saudi Arabia in Jeddah.
However, all previous mediation attempts have failed to make any significant progress toward ending the war, with the most achieved being short-term ceasefires.
