Chinese President Warns against Expanding Military Alliances

Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed, during the BRICS summit, that expanding military alliances is a threat to the world.

Earlier, Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed the need to remove trade barriers and secure global supply chains, noting that the volume of trade exchange with Russia since the beginning of the year amounted to $65 billion.

In a video speech, at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Xi said that the growth of trade volume between China and Russia, which has reached $65 billion since the beginning of the year, reflects the ability to resist pressure and the potential for cooperation between the two countries.

Earlier, Chinese President affirmed his country’s readiness to develop bilateral cooperation with Russia, during a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“The Chinese side is ready to cooperate with the Russian side to ensure the stable and long-term development of bilateral trade cooperation,” the Chinese president said, according to (Russia Today) news channel.

“Despite global changes and instability in the world since the beginning of this year, Chinese – Russian relations have maintained a good momentum of development,” the Chinese president noted, stressing Beijing’s willingness to help Russia in national security affairs.

China is ready for close strategic cooperation with the Russia, to provide mutual support, taking into account the main interests of both sides regarding sovereignty and national security.

The call comes amid news reports that says that China has become the largest importer of Russia’s energy resources.
