On Saturday, the Chinese Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Emergency Management will pre-allocate 1 billion yuan (about $137 million) to provide relief to people severely affected by the recent floods and ensure their basic livelihoods, China Media Group said.

The funds will mainly be allocated to five provincial-level regions: North China's Beijing and Tianjin Municipality, Hebei Province, and northeast China's Heilongjiang and Jilin Provinces.

Together with funds already earmarked, the central government has allocated a total of 9.68 billion yuan for flood control and relief since the start of this year's flood season, according to the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Emergency Management.

The funds will be allocated to support emergency rescue and relief work and help those affected by the recent floods to resume production and daily life as soon as possible.
