China: Palestine is ruled by Palestinians, we oppose displacement of Gazans

China has always believed that the principle of "Palestinians governing Palestine" is the basic principle for post-conflict governance in Gaza, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said.

The spokesman made the remarks at a daily press conference when asked to comment on US President Donald Trump's remarks that the United States would "control" the Gaza Strip after resettling Palestinians living there in neighboring countries such as Jordan and Egypt.

Lin noted that China has always believed that the principle of "Palestinians governing Palestine" is the basic principle for post-conflict governance in Gaza.

"We oppose the forced displacement of Gazans, and hope that relevant parties will seize the opportunity of the ceasefire and post-conflict governance in Gaza to bring the Palestinian issue back to the right track of political settlement based on the two-state solution, so as to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East," he said.
