China announced on Friday that it has agreed to join the New York Declaration in support of the two-state solution, reaffirming that the move is consistent with its long-standing position on the Palestinian issue, according to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jianjun.
Speaking at a press conference in Beijing, Guo said the declaration reflects China’s firm support for a political settlement to the Palestinian question.
His remarks came in response to a media inquiry about the final communiqué of the high-level international conference on resolving the Palestinian issue and advancing the two-state solution, Xinhua reported.
“The Palestinian issue is at the core of Middle East affairs and is currently at a critical juncture,” Guo stressed. “We support all efforts aimed at a political settlement of the Palestinian question, and we will continue to work with the international community to push for a ceasefire in Gaza, ease the humanitarian crisis, and advance the implementation of the two-state solution in pursuit of a comprehensive, just, final, and lasting resolution.”
The move underscores Beijing’s growing diplomatic engagement in Middle East peace efforts, positioning China as a supporter of multilateral initiatives to achieve stability in the region.
