The authorities of Jilin Province in northeastern China announced that the result of examining a sample of frozen seafood (squid) packages imported from Russia was positive for the emerging coronavirus (Covid-19).

The authorities said - in a statement today, Monday - that the sample was tested positive for the pandemic through a regular examination.

The authorities asked people who had bought and eaten imported squid at the local Sanjia Deda frozen seafood wholesale shop Aug 24-31 to report to neighbourhood authorities and seek a COVID test.

Earlier, the China Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that Coronavirus vaccines being developed in China may be ready for use by the general public as early as November.

“Phase 3 clinical trials were proceeding smoothly and the vaccines could be ready for the general public in November or December,” CDC chief Guizhen Wu said in an interview with state TV.

China has four Coronavirus vaccines in the final stage of clinical trials. Yet, Wu did not specify which vaccines she was referring to.

It is worth mentioning that, Global vaccine makers are racing to develop an effective vaccine against the virus which has killed more than 925,000 people.
