Chicago Fire are intensifying their push to sign Polish star Robert Lewandowski, the Barcelona striker whose contract is set to expire at the end of June, according to multiple reports.

Spanish newspaper Sport revealed that the MLS side remain determined to fulfill their ambition of bringing Lewandowski to the United States and are continuing efforts to convince the player and his family that Chicago would be an ideal destination once his Barcelona deal expires at the end of the current season.

The report noted ongoing communication between Chicago Fire and the veteran forward, with the club ramping up its approach in recent hours amid growing indications that Lewandowski could be open to a new chapter in Major League Soccer.

Chicago Fire have already submitted an initial formal offer to the 36-year-old striker, understood to be a two-year contract with a salary reflecting his status as a marquee global star. The club view Lewandowski as the cornerstone of a new sporting project aimed at elevating the team to a higher competitive level.

The report added that Chicago Fire are proceeding carefully to gain the trust of Lewandowski and his entourage. In November, his wife, Anna Lewandowska, visited Chicago and toured several residential areas, an early sign of the seriousness of the negotiations.

Weeks later, in early December, a meeting took place in Barcelona between representatives of the MLS club and individuals close to the player. Contacts have continued since, including a recent meeting in London between Lewandowski’s agent, Pini Zahavi, and Chicago Fire owner Joe Mansueto, indicating that talks have entered an advanced stage.

Zahavi is known to have strong ties with the club and already represents one of their players, Philip Zinckernagel, further strengthening Chicago Fire’s position as they press ahead in their pursuit of one of world football’s most prolific strikers.
