Chelsea will look to halt a damaging run of defeats when they face Leeds United at Wembley Stadium on Sunday evening in the FA Cup semifinal.

The London club enters the decisive clash under pressure, hoping to regain stability in the closing phase of the season.

Fans are counting on a turnaround following the appointment of interim head coach Callum McFarlane, who has stepped in after the dismissal of Liam Rosenior.

Chelsea are still aiming to rescue their campaign by securing a place in European competition, either through a strong FA Cup run or by climbing the Premier League standings.

Rosenior was relieved of his duties after just 106 days in charge, following a string of disappointing results.

The low point came in a heavy 3-0 defeat to Brighton, which marked the club’s fifth consecutive league loss without scoring. It is a run not seen at Chelsea since 1912 and has significantly dented their hopes of European qualification.

McFarlane now faces a major test as he leads the team at Wembley.

The semifinal represents Chelsea’s first meeting this season with a Premier League opponent in the competition, having advanced past four lower division sides with a combined score of 20-3 during Rosenior’s tenure.

Chelsea have also been dealt an injury setback with Brazilian winger Estevao ruled out due to a hamstring problem sustained against Manchester United.

The injury could put his participation in the 2026 World Cup at risk. Meanwhile, Cole Palmer’s issue is considered minor, and he could return in time for the semifinal after missing the Brighton match.

The team heads into the fixture amid uncertainty, a factor that may encourage Leeds United. The Yorkshire side views the encounter as a genuine opportunity to cause an upset and reach their first FA Cup final in more than 50 years.
