On Monday, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) decided to disqualify Chad from the African Cup of Nations on the background of the country's government's decision to dissolve the soccer federation.
Earlier, the Chadian Ministry of Youth and Sports stripped the country’s football federation of its powers on March 10 following concerns over the way it was being run and a communication breakdown, and will now likely also face a ban from FIFA, according to African reports.
On this basis, the CAF has also accused the Chadian authorities of interfering in the affairs of the football federation.
It's worth noting that Chad was already out of the running for a place at the Nations Cup tournament in Cameroon early next year after taking just a single point from their first four qualification matches aganist Namibia and Mali.
