China Global Television Network (CGTN) highlighted Egypt’s shipment of medical aid to China as a sign of solidarity to confront the outbreak of coronavirus.

The Ministry of Health announced on Saturday that Egypt will provide China with 10 tons of preventive medical items and equipment to help deal with coronavirus outbreak.

The shipments are sent by a plane that brought back Egyptians returning home from China’s Wuhan, where a deadly coronavirus has originated and is now rapidly spreading across the world.

In the same context, the Ministry's spokesman Dr. Khaled Megahed confirmed the availability of a sufficient strategic stock of medical and preventive supplies needed for the Egyptian medical plan adopted to deal with the Coronavirus and prevent its entry into the country.

Last Thursday, the United States warned its citizens not to travel to China after Beijing announced that the death toll from the new Coronavirus has risen to more than 200 while the World Health Organization declared coronavirus outbreak global health emergency.

Last week, China announced a nationwide ban on wildlife sales in stores, restaurants and e-commerce sites.

It is worth mentioning that, Coronaviruses comes from the Latin word corona, meaning crown. Most infect animals, such as bats, cats, and birds. Only seven, including 2019-nCoV, SARS, and MERS, are known to infect human, according to the Vox website.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, most patients right now start with a fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Hand-washing is an important public health measure all the time, and especially in an outbreak.

People with the virus have been detected in other countries, which is the reason the WHO declared the outbreak a public health emergency. The novel coronavirus is a zoonotic disease coming from an animal.
