The United States Central Command has described Egypt as a leading state in the Middle East, highlighting Cairo’s pivotal role in regional security and its close military partnership with the United States.

Speaking in an interview with Egyptian journalist Kamal Madi on Al Qahera News Channel, CENTCOM spokesman Tim Hawkins said that one of the top priorities of the U.S. military presence in the Middle East is deterring ISIS, which he described as a persistent threat seeking to harm Americans and destabilize the region through violence.

Hawkins stressed that countering ISIS is pursued through coordinated strategies with allies and regional partners, noting that the U.S. military is strongest when operating side by side with trusted partners. In this context, he pointed to Egypt’s central role in joint military cooperation, particularly the Bright Star exercises held last September in coordination with U.S. forces.

He said the Bright Star drills stand as clear evidence of the depth and resilience of the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States, adding that such exercises enhance interoperability, readiness, and the collective ability to respond to regional threats—contributing directly to regional stability.

The CENTCOM spokesman also underlined the importance of sustained cooperation with allies to protect U.S. forces and maintain a strong military posture in the region. He explained that working closely with regional partners not only strengthens collective defense capabilities, but also improves deterrence and crisis response, helping to safeguard stability across the Middle East.
