Hassan Abdalla, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) and Chairman of the Egyptian Banking Institute (EBI), attended the graduation ceremony of four new cohorts from the EBI’s flagship “Future Leaders” program.
The event highlighted the Institute’s continued commitment to nurturing young banking talent and developing the next generation of financial leaders.
The ceremony was attended by Rami Abul Naga, CBE Deputy Governor for Monetary Stability; Tarek El-Kholy, Deputy Governor for Banking Stability and EBI Board Member; Dr. Abdelaziz Nossier, Executive Director of the Institute; as well as members of the EBI Board of Directors, senior banking executives, and human resources and training officials from across the banking sector.
In his address, Governor Abdalla expressed his pride in participating in the graduation ceremony, describing the Future Leaders program as “one of the most distinguished and longstanding training initiatives offered by the Institute.” Established three decades ago, the program has been instrumental in developing skilled professionals who have gone on to assume leadership roles across Egypt’s banking industry.
“The Central Bank places human capital at the core of its priorities,” Abdalla affirmed, emphasizing that the sector’s success depends on well-qualified professionals. He noted that in recent years, the CBE has launched several initiatives aimed at cultivating a new generation of banking experts, most recently the introduction of Egypt’s first Bachelor’s Degree in Banking Sciences, which will be offered in select faculties of commerce starting from the 2025/2026 academic year.
Dr. Abdelaziz Nossier reiterated the Institute’s commitment to continuous enhancement of the Future Leaders program, emphasizing the integration of cutting-edge training methods and assessment tools. “Our goal is to equip participants with the competencies needed to adapt to the rapid transformations within the banking sector and to prepare them for future leadership roles,” he said.
The program, which blends theoretical and practical training, covers key areas such as banking sciences, leadership, and financial technology. It also includes international study visits to leading global financial institutions, enabling participants to gain firsthand exposure to global best practices.
This year’s ceremony marked the graduation of classes 32, 33, 34, and 35, comprising a total of 93 young banking professionals. These graduates successfully completed an intensive training journey designed to build a strong “second line” of qualified banking leaders. Since its inception, the program has produced hundreds of graduates who now occupy influential leadership positions across Egypt’s banking industry — a testament to the Institute’s success in fostering a sustainable talent pipeline.
Founded in 1991 by a decree from the Central Bank of Egypt, the Egyptian Banking Institute serves as the CBE’s official training arm. The Institute aims to be the leading regional center for financial learning and knowledge, promoting excellence in skills development and contributing to financial awareness within Egyptian society.
