CBE: Banks Deposits in Local Currency Touch EGP 5 Trillion

Total deposits in local currency in banks, other than the government, recorded EGP 4.986 trillion at the end of June 2022, compared to EGP 4.469 trillion at the end of December 2021.

Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) data showed that deposits in local currency were pided into demand deposits and recorded EGP 766.379 billion, compared to EGP 680.464 billion at the end of December 2021.

Time deposits and savings certificates amounted to EGP 4.220 trillion at the end of June, compared to EGP 3.789 trillion at the end of December 2021.

Demand deposits were pided into the public business sector and recorded EGP 52.667 billion, and the private sector by EGP 477.989 billion, while the household sector achieved EGP 236.090 billion at the end of June 2022.

As for time deposits and savings certificates, they were pided into the public business sector at EGP 46.048 billion, and the private sector at EGP 228.982 billion, while the household sector achieved EGP 3.945 trillion at the end of the same month.
