The central bank of Egypt (CBE) announced new working hours for banks and stock market amid curfew to curb the coronavirus pandemic.
The CBE pointed out that the working hours for clients will start from 9:30 am until 1.30 pm. As for the working hours for bank employees, it will start at 9:00 am until 2:00 pm.
While, the Egyptian stock exchange market (EGX) announced earlier that trading sessions on the main index and bourse for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will start at 10:00 am and close at 1:30 pm.
As for the non-listed trading session, it is expected to be open from 11:30 am until 12:00 pm for orders, and from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm for deals.
The central bank said that adjusting banks working hours due to the current situation in the country comes as necessary preventive measures tighten to avoid the spread of the coronavirus, and in light of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly’s decision to adopt curfew for citizens.
The curfew will take place from 7:00 pm up until 6:00 am for two consecutive weeks.
