Casemiro Joins Inter Miami as MLS Opens Investigation into Transfer

Inter Miami have completed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Casemiro after the veteran left Manchester United as a free agent, but the transfer is already under scrutiny with Major League Soccer launching an investigation into the deal.

The 34-year-old has joined Lionel Messi's side as part of Inter Miami's continued efforts to strengthen their squad with experienced international stars. 

Casemiro arrives after a trophy-laden career that included five UEFA Champions League titles with Real Madrid, followed by a four-season spell at Manchester United.

Manchester United opted not to renew Casemiro's contract at the end of last season, allowing the Brazil international to leave on a free transfer before Inter Miami secured his signature.

Speaking after completing the move, Casemiro said the club's ambitions and long-term project convinced him to continue his career in Major League Soccer, adding that he remains motivated to compete for titles.

Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham also welcomed the midfielder, praising his winning mentality, leadership qualities and vast experience at both club and international level.

However, shortly after announcing the signing, MLS confirmed it had opened an investigation into the transfer over the league's discovery rights system.

According to reports, LA Galaxy previously held Casemiro's discovery rights before Inter Miami completed the move. 

League officials are now gathering information to determine whether all MLS regulations were followed before finalising the transfer.

Reports also claim Inter Miami and LA Galaxy reached an agreement regarding the player's discovery rights, although the financial details of that arrangement are expected to remain undisclosed until the investigation is concluded.

The inquiry marks another case involving Inter Miami's transfer activity after the club previously faced league sanctions related to player registration and salary cap compliance.

Despite the ongoing investigation, Casemiro's arrival adds another high-profile name to Inter Miami's squad as the club continues its pursuit of domestic and international success.
