The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has reportedly accepted an appeal filed by the Senegalese Football Federation and ordered a temporary suspension of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) decision to award the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title to Morocco.
According to reports cited by Algerian media, CAS issued a provisional ruling freezing the implementation of CAF’s Appeals Committee decision until a final verdict is reached. This means the title remains legally unresolved for now.
CAF had previously ruled to overturn the original outcome of the final and award the title to Morocco following a successful appeal related to incidents during the match and the application of disciplinary regulations.
The decision had sparked controversy, prompting Senegal to escalate the case to CAS in a bid to challenge the ruling.
With CAS now intervening, the dispute enters a new phase, as both parties await a final and binding decision from the international sports tribunal.
