Michael Carrick, interim head coach of Manchester United, has been named Manager of the Month for January in the Premier League, marking the first such accolade of his managerial career after an impressive start with the Red Devils.
Carrick, who took charge in mid-January following the departure of Ruben Amorim, guided United to a pair of high-profile victories against some of the league’s strongest sides.
His tenure began with a commanding 2–0 win over Manchester City in the Manchester derby, before securing a dramatic 3–2 triumph against Arsenal, handing the London side their first home league defeat of the season.
Under Carrick’s leadership, United collected maximum points from their two January fixtures, doubling the tally the team had managed in three previous matches against lower-ranked opponents.
The strong start has been described as one of the most successful interim spells in Premier League history.
Carrick becomes the seventh interim manager to win the monthly award and the second from Manchester United after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who claimed it in January 2019.
He is also the first English manager to receive the honor since April 2024.
